This is how the Leisure Activity Card (Fritidskortet) works for parents or guardians
The Government has introduced a bill to provide central government funding for children’s leisure activities. This will take the form of a card that can be used to pay for leisure activities. From autumn 2025, as the parent or guardian of a child between the ages of 8 and 16, you will be able to use the Leisure Activity Card to pay for your child’s leisure activities. You must make payment via the e-service. Your child cannot do so themselves.
The Leisure Activity Card (Fritidskortet) is valid with registered associations and organisations
In order to pay using the Leisure Activity Card, the club or association offering the activity must be registered on the scheme. When the service opens in the autumn, you will be able to see which clubs and associations are registered.
You must register your child for the activity
You register your child for the leisure activity directly with the sports club, outdoor recreation organisation, arts school or other organisation offering activities for children and youths. Once your child has been offered a place, you can pay using the Leisure Activity Card.
Work is currently underway on the e-service for using the Leisure Activity Card and further information will be published on this website at a later date.
Each child will have a fixed annual amount
The current proposal is that every child between the ages of 8 and 16 will be entitled to a fixed annual amount that you can use to pay for certain leisure activities for your child. The basic annual amount is SEK 500. Households that received housing allowance in the previous year will be entitled to SEK 2,000 per child.
It is not possible to save or carry over unused funds to the following year.
Which activities can you pay for with the Leisure Activity Card?
The current proposal is that the Leisure Activity Card will be valid for certain fees for leisure activities, for example:
- fees for sports clubs, outdoor recreation organisations or arts schools (such as membership fees, participation fees or training fees); and
- renting equipment or aids to participate in leisure activities.
Further information will be available shortly
At present, the website is primarily open to associations and organisations that will be eligible to register on the Leisure Activity Card scheme. Further information for parents/guardians will be published in the autumn.
